If I Had 10,000 Tongues

9, 10th December

Weekend Edition

O Lord my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all Your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.”

Psalm 40:5

When you are in a dark place the only way to get out is through praise. Look at how many Psalms were birthed whilst David was going through tough times. Take Daniel when he was thrown into the lions den. It was praising God that freed him. The same with Peter, John, Silas and Paul; all thrown into jail, but praise set free from their persecution. Moses regularly cried out to God in praise to help him lead the people of Israel. And in times of great responsibility and decision making, praising God was the first thing on his lips. Jesus Himself taught us how to turn our cries of help into shouts of praise. Of course it is not easy to look at the positives when you are in a negative situation. But that is the point! If we fix on the negative things, we will never be able to look up to the positive, which always was and is our Lord and Saviour.

This weekend lets join the Psalmist in declaring God’s wonderful endless deeds. Lets fix our eyes on Jesus instead of our problems and watch God liberate us from our negative situations, and lead us on the path of victory. He has performed great wonders and will continue to do! Trust in HIM!

The Privilege Of Praise

12th September

Let them all praise the name of the Lord. For His name is very great; His glory towers over the earth and heaven!”

Psalm 148:13

Did you know that even the sun and moon praise God! Everything that God created is a vessel for giving praise back to Him. The Psalmist in Psalm 148 creates an extensive list of all things that praise God. However, why did he choose to write such a long list? Maybe he was trying to show us that actually, everything that we can see around us, and even the things that we can’t see, all were made by God’s mighty hands and all sing in praise and rejoice in obedience to His commands.

See it is a joy to join in with all of creation in praising our Creator God. We are in included in the things created. Isn’t it incredible that we can join with the sun and moon, the vapours high above the clouds, the wild animals in the fields and the fish that swim in the deepest oceans, in praising our great God. Moreover, we are God’s finest creations. We are the ones whom He sacrificed His only Son for. We are the ones whom God chose to have a relationship with. We are the ones whose hearts Jesus has made His home. We are God’s chosen people. His bride. His church. His body. If the wind and waves rejoice in praise, then how much more such we praise our God.

God’s Ever-shining Glory

13th July

For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May Your glory shine over all the earth.”

Psalm 108:4-5

God is so faithful. Because He is so faithful He will always get the glory. He even makes bad situations in our lives work out for good so He gets the glory. The question is do we give Him the praise when bad situations get fixed? Do we give Him the glory and praise He deserves?

If you think that you have run out of things to praise God for then have a read of Psalm 111:4, “He causes us to remember His wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!” In fact God is so great that “everything He does, reveals His glory and Majesty.” We cannot hide from the majestic works of our God. We cannot run from His mercy and faithfulness. His love is inescapable. His glory shines over all the earth.

As we start a new week, let us think upon the goodness of God. Let us rejoice in the blessings of Almighty. Let us ask God to remind us of anything we have not thanked Him for. When you see His glory, praise Him. He loves to be told how great His works are. He delights in our worshipful admiration. In fact He created the beauty of this world to reveal Himself to His creation. Even if you are facing a challenging situation this week, know that God is already working in your situation, so He can be glorified and you can be set free.

Don’t hold back.. Praise Him.
