The Blessed: Triumphant Victory

12th September

How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands. . . . Light shines in the darkness for the godly… . . They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.”

Psalm 112:1, 4a, 8

What a wonderful promise right?! There is no fear for those who follow the Lord…. The reason is because we are following ONE who has already won our victory over evil, death and sin. We follow the ONE who shined His light in this dark world and overcame the darkness. Moreover, He poured out His light in us so that we too may show others the way to Himself.

Because of Jesus Christ, we have nothing to fear. We can approach our enemies, not just in confidence but triumphantly, because of the victory Jesus has already won for us. What a glorious promise. Doesn’t it just fill you with hope, knowing that when we obey God and follow Him, we are blessed with unspeakable favour. No place will be too dark for us to walk into because ‘light shines in the darkness for the godly’. No enemy or situation can fill us with fear because God makes us ‘confident and fearless’ so that we can face our foes and fears ‘triumphantly’. Praise the Lord…

Our Victory In Christ

4th May

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:57

When you are battling and feel like you are drowning in life’s rivers of temptations and despairs, stop and say this verse to yourself…‘But Thank God!’ We have a hope greater than the mountains we may face. We have a strength more powerful than the pulls of our fleshly desires. We serve a mighty God who overcame sin and death, so that we may live in the victory and fruit of it.

Friends, we don’t have to surrender. We don’t have to give in. We just need to thank God for the victory we already have. Notice that Paul doesn’t say, because we have victory through Jesus, thank God. He starts from a place of thankfulness that appreciates that victory has already been won. In Jesus, we have life not death, victory not defeat! So be strong and immovable in Him and for Him.

Victory Over Sin And Death

24th November

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Today’s devotion is a simple reminder that Jesus has overcome sin and death. We do not need to be a people and body who live in the darkness. We are children of light. We are children who have the resurrected Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. It is in Him that victory is found. Moreover, it is because of Jesus’ victory that our lives are transformed.

It is no wonder that Paul encourages us to ‘be strong and immovable’! We live the power of Jesus’ victory. May God, this morning, grant us all an understanding of what it means to live in that power. May we understand how we can live strong and immovable lives for Christ and in Christ. May we fully understand that we don’t need to give into sin, but we can stand firm in Jesus!

Lord, may You fill our lives with a deeper understanding of Your power and victory over sin and death. Lord, guard our hearts and minds to be strong and immovable in You. Amen
