6th – 7th February

Weekend Edition

Acknowledge the Lord is God! He made us, and we are His……Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His Name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.

Psalm 100:3a,4-5

Praise God, that we are not only His, but that through Jesus Christ we have a way to literally enter into His very throne room and to worship Him freely without the weight of guilt and shame, which has been washed away through Jesus’ sacrifice for us. We are now seated with Christ in Heavenly places. God’s presence is no longer confined to a building with four walls, or a High priest who mediates for us, but rather our High Priest lives in us and ever stands a mediator between us and the Father.

When we enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, it is an attitude of prayerful worship and thankfulness for His goodness, rejoicing in song and praising in His Name. Why? Because the Lord is good and His unfailing love continues forever. When we wake, thankfulness should be on hearts. When we sleep praise should be on lips. There is so much we have to be thankful for.

Moreover, we can enter His presence because we are thankful; Thankful because of all He has done for us and thankful because we can enter His presence. The Lord is good and deserves to be praised.

Be Thankful

2nd December

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

A new day has started and with it brings hundreds of reasons to be thankful to God. Even from the small things we take advantage of everyday, such as having warm food to eat or hot water to shower, there are always reasons to be thankful. None more so than the gift of Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son”

That is a reason to be thankful this morning. Moreover, there was nothing you did to deserve that gift. It is and was a free gift. Salvation is found in no other nam; And yes, that also was and is a free gift. His Healing: Free. His forgiveness: Free. His comfort: Free. This free gift we have received gives us reason to worship Him in thanksgiving despite our circumstances, fears and worries. David Jeremiah wisely shares his thoughts on this verse..

Note that the verse doesn’t say for everything give thanks, but in everything give thanks. In every situation in life there are reasons to give thanks, not the least of which is the truth that God uses all things for good in the lives of those who belong to Him (Romans 8:28).1

God is good and loves us. God is love. May we today be at peace in knowing He is for us and not against us. May we be thankful in and for everything in our lives. May be know how to be thankful even in hard times, because even there, God’s goodness can be found.

Tell God Your Needs And Thank Him For His Deeds

13th March

“Don’t worry about anything: Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace… ”

Philippians 4:6-7a

Part of trusting God for all your needs is thanking Him for all He has already done. It is in the moments of getting caught up in your needs that we can often forget who God is and what He has been doing in our lives.

Yet it seems so hard that when we are in our darkest moments, when we feel like all hope is gone, that we should trust God and start thanking. However this attitude of gratitude is the key to living a worry and stress free life.

Paul encourages the church in Philippi to also trust in God and thank Him whilst bringing their requests to Him. He then states that it is only when you are exercising a thankful heart that you can really know the peace of God. The great thing is that that peace of God is a supernatural peace. A peace that says there is a storm raging around me, but because I know God is at hand, because I am thankful for all He has done and is going to do, there is a stillness in my heart that anchors me and gives me the strength to carry on. It gives a whole new dimension to the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ slogan. In truth that keeping calm and carrying on, only comes when we are fully grounded, fully submitted and fully thankful to the will and desires of our Loving and Caring Heavenly Father.

Do you trust God with your worries enough to be thankful for everything?
