The Blessed: Influence And Legacy

15th September

How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands. . . . Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honour.”

Psalm 112:1, 9b

As Christians and children of God, the Creator of this world, we are called to make a difference. We naturally and supernaturally carry the heart of God which is expressed through our words, deeds and actions. When we delight in obeying God and fear Him, we live as if He was walking this Earth Himself. God lives in us and through us. We are His hands and His feet. We can speak words of life in dead situations. We can do good, when surrounded by bad. We can be the light in darkness. Not because of ourselves but because the King of kings lives in us.

Moreover, our influence and honour can change the nations and the world we live in. Look at Joseph and Daniel in the Bible. They both had to overcome adversity, yet because of their good deeds, unwavering obedience to God and reverence of Him, they gained favour and soon became the ‘Prime Ministers’ of their lands, possibly of the two most powerful dynasties in Ancient History, Egypt and Babylonia. In addition, their memory lives on and people praise the name of God, because of what He did through their lives.

Friends, God has made us the head and not the tail, the top not the bottom (Deut 28:13). We are called to live to make a difference. Honour God and obey His word and watch how you will be used.
