^{Weekend Edition}

“How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands. . . . The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted.”

Psalm 112:1, 9b

Do you ever have days when you think the world is against you? Days when perhaps you feel that you are trying to do your best to please God, yet everyone seems to be against you? Well friend, just hang on. God promised us that when we obey and fear Him, our enemies, the wicked, will slink away. Although they try to pull us down, if our hope is in Him, they will fail and fall away. The writer of Proverbs even says that, ‘when our ways please the Lord, even our enemies make peace with us.’ (16:7)

Sadly some of those ‘wicked’ people might have been our friends from our previous lifestyles who just can’t seem to understand why you don’t want to do the same ‘bad’ things you used to do before you met Jesus. It may be a painful separation or segregation, but there is honour and reward in putting God above all else. Don’t loose heart, God is on your side; not to destroy your life and to make it miserable, but rather to give you life, and life in its fullness in HIM, not in sin.

If we fear the Lord and obey His commands, the fountains of Heaven’s blessings will pour out over us. We will be blessed with generosity, influence, and legacy. Our future generations will be blessed. We won’t fear bad news but trust in the hope of the cross. Our paths will be lighted up for us, even in the darkest of nights. Success and blessing will follow us wherever we go.. Worth following Jesus right?!
